In January 2018, The Saugatuck Rowing Club partnered with The Smilow Family Breast Health Center at Norwalk Hospital to give the mental, emotional and physical gift of rowing to their breast cancer patients. Approaching its third season, the program is changing lives and has surpassed everyone's expectations.
The Survive-OARS Breast Cancer Survivor Rowing Program is a truly holistic approach to healing; it heals the soul, calms the mind, and builds a warrior's heart to beat down this disease while building confidence and an impenetrable support system. We counter-balance the important western medicine Norwalk Hospital provides with the empowering gift of water, wind, fresh air, exercise, learning and friendship.
Just like ripples that expand across the water, our program has a positive ripple effect that improves a patients' life and the lives of those around them.
Please help us continue this important program. We are selling tickets to the event, as well as, biodegradable, freeze-dried Petal Garden rose petals that will be scattered onto the Saugatuck River at sunset, turning it pink, in honor of everyone who has (directly or indirectly) faced this pervasive disease.
Thank you for your support!
